Finally emptied out the apartment of all of our belongings.
Finally packed the rest of the boxes and leftover furniture we decided to keep in our storage container, and as you can see from the picture this was a difficult puzzle to say the least, but Steve being a pro of sorts made it work.
Finally turned in the keys, PO Box key, and car park stickers to the leasing office.
Finally started our journey into the unknown (well, sort of).
Finally drove out of California for the last time. Of course we’ll eventually be back to get our storage and to visit family and friends, but we will never live in this state again. California just isn’t the California that we grew up in, and in a way it’s refreshing, but it really hasn’t hit us that our old home state will never be home again.
It’s sad really how damaged this state has become because of the greedy politicians and their ridiculous laws and leniencies. The amount of people who live there is beyond crazy and the freeways and highways are in a constant state of chaos, and don’t even get me started on the cost of living. The rent is skyrocketing in Los Angeles and Orange County and it doesn’t look like there will be any relief any time soon.
It was time to leave. Time to go, and follow in many of our friends and families footsteps who have moved out of California for the same reasons we have and have settled in other states like Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and other like minded states so that we can all actually work for something other than rent or a mortgage.
It will be a journey, but we have a plan and to implement that plan we have to take a chance and go for it, and as we drive away in the gangster mobile with our luggage and our digital belongings we bid adieu to California and raise a glass to what was once our home.
Until next time…
YAAAAAAAYYYY!
Life is a GREAT journey!!!
